Stop, look and stay alive

Surf Lifesaving Victoria has released new resources for families about how to keep safe in the water and where to find patrolled beaches.

Going to the beach over the break?

Surf Lifesaving’s Beach Passport website has short educational videos that parents can watch with their children, with information about beach and waterway warning signs, how to identify a rip and what to do if you are caught in one.

Their downloadable beach safety app provides regularly updated reports on patrol status, facilities and hazards to weather, swell and tide.

It’s also vital we protect our skin while enjoying the hot weather. The Cancer Council’s Sunsmart app provides UV and sun protection alerts each day, and seven day UV forecasts that can be tailored to your location whether you are in Australia or elsewhere in the world.
